Devon Ringing History Group

The Friends of the Guild Library have established the Devon Ringing History Group to facilitate and encourage research into the history of bells and ringing in the county. The ability to contact others interested in similar topics is a key benefit of membership of the Group and marking the 150th anniversary of the Guild through promoting its history will be a key focus. Any member of the Friends has the additional option of joining in the activities of the History Group. Information about the Friends scheme is available here.

Projects and articles about the history of Devon ringing will be shared on this page:

Guides to Research

John Harrison has produced an excellent guide to researching information about people. As well as listing sources of information, it gives advice about the purposes of research, practical tips for searching, problems with using OCR scanned texts and how to publish or share your results. (Please note that since John's guide was written the Central Council has launched a new website. We have tried to update the links, but some links are currently to the archived version of the old site and may change. Please advise the Librarian (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) of any problems you encounter.) Biographic research for ringers
