An update on the Exeter Branch calendar of events 2020

This year we are having six branch practices, including one at Heavitree on 27th February, St Petrock’s on 23rd March, Hatherleigh on 30th April, St Marks on 10th June, St Thomas on 3rd September and St David’s on 9th October. These practices will be jointly run by our new ringing master and deputy ringing master (Oliver Bates and Peter Richards). We hope to use these practices to help people advance in the methods they are learning at their local towers as well as spending part of each practice on a focus method. We will also use one of the practices to go through the methods for the Guild Striking competitions in October.

We also have our annual train outing to look forward to, which this year will take place on the late May Bank Holiday Monday ( 25th May) to avoid clashing with the VE Day celebrations and ringing in early May (8th May). This outing is being organised by Peter Richards, with the current plan being to ring at 3 or 4 towers around the Weston-Super-Mare area plus a pub lunch. This will involve leaving Exeter around 8.30 in the morning and returning late afternoon or early evening. The trip is still being organised and more details will be advertised nearer the time.

On 18th July we will be ringing at Poltimore (as a tower close to Exeter but one many have not rung at before) before having a branch barbecue in Broadclyst. Also on a more sociable note, we will be having our annual skittles and supper evening on 9th October at the New Inn pub in Broadclyst.

Finally, we will be having our Branch AGM at Crediton this year, which will be on the 21st November. This tower will provide many members with an opportunity to ring on a larger number of bells than normal, from rounds and call changes through to methods.

All the dates and times for these events are in the calendar on the Guild website so please take a look and put them in your diaries now as it would be great to see many of you during the year.
