Welcome to the East Devon Branch
The East Devon branch is centred on Honiton. It extends from Axminster in the east to Ottery St Mary in the west and the Blackdown Hills in the north down to Sidmouth on the south coast. The branch organises a wide range of events throughout the year offering something for all levels of ability.
If you are visiting the area or want to find out more then please make contact with any of the officers.
East Branch Centenary
In October 1919, at Ottery St Mary, the East Devon Branch of the Guild of Devonshire Ringers was founded. On 12th October the centenary will be celebrated at a meeting to be held, once again, in Ottery St Mary. The bells of the church of St Mary the Virgin will be ringing out from 2:30pm with a service following at 4:00pm.
After the service it is hoped to take a group photograph outside the church (weather permitting) of all the ringers attending. It is hoped that there will be many from across East Devon and even further afield coming to celebrate this historic event.
To test your knowledge of the many towers in the branch, a quiz has been prepared. Entries must be submitted by 4:00pm on 12th October to the Branch Secretary. Entry is free and there will be a small prize awarded to the winner.
