Mid-Devon April News

Branch practice, April – Lustleigh
A rather disappointing turn-out for this one with only 8 ringers. Having said that, we used the time usefully and the two local ringers who met us said that they really enjoyed the practice. Lustleigh really are a very good ring of six so ideal for less experienced ringers. Methods rung ranged from rounds to Cambridge minor, including Grandsire Doubles and Little Bob Minor.

Six bell practice, April – Bickington
Wow!! What a difference! Was it our little nag? Was it the fine evening or was it the fact that the branch has not been to Bickington for some time? Whatever the reason, there was an excellent attendance of 17 ringers and the atmosphere buzzed all evening! Despite the numbers we managed to fit in a lot of ringing in the time, and it was clear that when not ringing there was excellent networking going on as we all caught up with each other or met people for the first time. A wide range of methods was rung on these bells which are really very enjoyable to ring. We had plenty of rounds and call changes for the less experienced, but also managed London Surprise Minor which is at the higher end of difficulty. In between there was Plain Hunting, Plain and Little Bob and even an attempt to ring "mixed up" Kent and Oxford Treble Bob. This would have gone much better if the conductor had remembered the composition!! Whoops! I promise to try better next time.
So, all in all, a great evening which shows what can be achieved in the branch. Thank you all.
