We are a society of young ringers aged 30 and under who ring in Plymouth and the surrounding area. We meet for monthly practices during term time on a Sunday evening at Plymouth Emmanuel.

Practice nights are well attended with 14 or 15 at each practice, along with a positive atmosphere which makes ringing a pleasure. This allows the Society to be giving back to the churches that allow them to ring there by ringing for Sunday evensong, and calling people to worship, which is after all the sole purpose of church bell ringing.

As well as achieving a decent standard of striking, the society is focused on allowing members to “have a go” at methods that they have wanted to try in a non-intimidating environment. This has already seen results with members making rapid progress on plain hunt, and others having the chance to ring Stedman and touches of Cambridge.

Every year we organise a weekend away which has previously taken us to places such as the Isle of Wight, London, Derbyshire, Reading and Oswestry. For our 10th Annual Weekend Away we are planning a trip to Ireland! We also organise additional socials and local outings throughout the year.

With more exciting outings and events to happen in the pipeline, and always enjoyable practice nights, it seems Plymouth Youths is the place to be for young ringers! If any young people in the Plymouth area would like to join us, they are most welcome.
